Barkerville Rush Relay

Sunday May 19, 2013. This 8-stage running relay follows the gradient-rich Highway 26 from the busy resource town of19uesnel to the Cariboo Gold Rush mountain valleys of Barkerville. You will grind up hills steep and long, and stride past colourful and historic sites such as Cottonwood House, Lightning Creek, Robber’s Roost and Blessing’s Grave. The slopes are gentle past Jack of Clubs Lake and Barkerville, but then the route turns into a trail to Richfield which then climbs steeply to Summit Rock. Snow is certain to be encountered before retracing the path to finish up in the quaint but welcoming town of Wells. Participants rave about the course and the high standard of race organization, the enthusiasm of the volunteers, the great scenery and the amazing wildlife!

Printed Trail Maps Now Available

Printed maps of the Wells/Barkerville trail network are now available!

These full-colour glossy maps show all the trails that you see on this website.
The maps can be purchased at the District of Wells Office and other locations in Wells, and in Quesnel at Rocky Peak Adventure Gear and at Keen’s Sports.
Maps are $5, with proceeds going towards trail maintenance.

Wells Snowmobile Trails - Grooming Started

Now that there is enough snow the Wells Snowmobile Club has started its trail grooming. The Groundhog Lake and Proserpine Trails have been groomed and all trails will be groomed by Friday, December 17th.

Records Broken in 4th Annual Bike and Hike Challenge

Saturday, September 18th saw the running of the 4th Annual 7 Summits Bike and Hike Challenge in the Cariboo Mountains above Wells and Barkerville.  This 56 km event covers 7 mountains in 7 stages, with over 7 thousand feet of elevation gain in one day.
